Halloween!

Devin and Michael waiting for them to answer. This house actually had the porch light on, but no once ever answered the door. :(

Daddy coaching Batman.

Jeannie painting on Mickey's black nose.

At Grandma Carol's house. (Devin was more concerned about playing with Pappy then getting any candy...crazy little boy!)

Robin and Papa Ted.

Devin at Papa Ted's house.

This year was SO much fun with the boys. Well....Devin was the only one who know what the heck was going on I guess.....and he had a blast! He was excited to dress up as Batman and go Trick-or-Treating. This year we hit the usual family spots- Papa Ted's, Nana Carol's, Papa and Nana Jones's. Then we met our friends the Woodrich's in Independence and walked around their neighborhood. The boys did a very good job once they figured it out.
Unfortunately by the time I remembered to get a picture of both the boys together they had both had enough of their costumes so a picture attempt would have just been a disaster! Oh well...maybe next year!

Neewollah...Finally!

Our friends Jeannie and Michael.

All of us walking in the parade.

Uh OH! Robin wasn't too happy about wearing a mask!

Batman and Robin. I was SO entirely unprepared once AGAIN this year. I didn't even think about getting Devin black shoes or socks for his Batman costume! (Or Gavin for that matter.) And since I had to pick up his costume from the FedEx site in Independence the MORNING of the parade it didn't leave me much time to be prepared. We looked a little better on Halloween though.

Exploration Place in Wichita

While in Wichita we visited Exploration Place. I only went here as a last resort- and am I GLAD I did! I honestly would have went here both days instead of the zoo had I known what it was all about.
There was a fairly large play area for kids 0-3 which was great for me since I finally found somewhere that Gavin could get down and burn some energy.
Devin had fun in the bubble exhibit and we saw a 35 minute movie in the CyberDome about a bird "Chirpie" who goes to the moon. It was really neat. There were several exhibits we didn't get to see since we had to pick Chris up at Cessna. We'll surely be visiting this place again when we have several hours to occupy.

Sedwick County Zoo in Wichita

The BIGGEST donkey I've ever seen.

Devin looking at the penguins at Cessna Penguin Cove.

Devin looking at the snakes. This was probably his favorite exhibit. He's all boy for sure!

The jungle. This was a really amazing indoor exhibit. They had birds, bats, and other animals just running (and flying) around. Devin was trying to catch some kind of little creature that was running around. I'm not sure what it was called, but it was about the size of a rabbit.

Devin just watched the flamingos. He kept saying "Hi flamingos! My name is Devin. How are you?"

Devin running after a peacock! He was determined to catch that sucker!

Devin feeding the koi fish.

They had a HUGE petting zoo area. There were some kind of Asian chickens. They kind of chased after Devin- but it didn't phase him at all! The batteries in my camera ran out during this exibit so I didn't get any picutres of Devin's little black goat friend.

Tuesday Chris needed to head to Wichita for work- so we decided to tag along. It was a little hairy for me to find something to for the boys to do during the day while Chris was training at Cessna, ALONE in a town I'm not too familiar with, but we did have a great time.
We had a wonderful visit to the Wichita Zoo. It was rather chilly and misting rain outside. Other than the zoo staff, we pretty much had free reign of the entire zoo! This made it very nice for me. I worry about having both boys in a really crowded area and someone nabbing Devin. So- I was able relax a little here. We had a great time at the zoo and they had a lot of GREAT indoor exhibits. I'm sure we'll be planning another trip back, in better weather!
